Syed Abbas Hazara, who received 24,936 votes, won with a heavy mandate. Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, contesting from Pakistan Muslim Leaque-Q’s platform, came in second with 11,387 votes.
Syed Abbas Hazara is considered to be the first Hazara representative to have been elected to the National Assembly.
His election has brought joy to the disgruntled Hazara populace of Quetta, whose candidates have been losing elections multiple times in a row in the past.
The election of Syed Abbas Hazara with the heavy mandate raises many hopes among the Hazaras, who want their voices heard. They stand in need of development, better representation and more attention from the government.
