Hazara Diaspora living in Australia held a mass protest demonstration on Feb 3, 2009 against the target killing of Hazaras in Quetta Pakistan.
The protestors from different cities of Australia including Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Victoria staged in front of Pakistani Embassy in Capital, Canberra. They were holding placards and banners written with “Stop Planned Genocide of Hazaras”, “Stop Target Killing of Hazaras in Quetta” Pakistan”. Pakistan High Commission rejected the resolution by protestors. Organizers decided to handover the document to the Embassy as a registered mail. The resolution demanded of the Pakistan Government to immediately arrest the persons behind target killing of Hazaras in Quetta city. They strongly condemned murder of a political leader, Hussain Ali Yousufi.
Speakers, Ahmed Raza, Mehdi Ekhtiyari, Musa Gharjistani, Hassan Ghulam and Ali Zadeh addressed the protesters. They highlighted the efforts of political leader Hussain Ali Yousufi and demanded of a fair probe into his assissination.
Representatives from the protesters, Ataullah Naseri, Sha Hassani and Raza Jaffari called on Australian parliamentarians discussing the target killing of Hazaras in Quetta Pakistan. They urged the parliamentarians to ask Australian Government lobby in this regard. The parliamentarians assured their full cooperation showing solidarity to take their voice to concerned quarters.
Speakers of the protest rally also discussed formation of a federated Hazara Organization in Australia.
