Target-Killing Campaign; Advocate Wulayet Murdered

Renowned Hazara lawyer, Advocate Wulayet’s murder–on Thursday Oct 01– is continuation of terrorism against Hazaras in Quetta Pakistan. Since the assassination of Hussain Ali Yousafi, Chairman Hazara Democratic Party, many renowned Hazara professionals have been targeted. Last month, Ahmed Ali Najafi, the Hazara industrialist and owner of Noorband Factories was killed in broad dalight. Yet over a hundred innocent Hazara lives have been shot in 2009.

The Government of Pakistan and its security organizations have been reluctant to stop the terror-campaign against the ethnic Hazaras, suffering target-killing since last 10 years in Pakistan. Only in the last five months of 2009, over a hundred people have been killed in different incidents. The target-killing incident have increased since the new provincial government under Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani. In all these incidents, innocent people are targeted on head by highly-professional and trained shooters. Yet non of the murderers have been arrested. After each assassination, the Government and its security agencies assure of arresting the culprits very soon. But yet no one has been arrested, despite the fact that security agencies are well-aware of the religious extremists behind the terror-campaign against Hazaras.

Interior Minister of Balochistan province in a statement last month said that the government know the hands behind the target-killing but it can’t take action against them. He was clearly mentioning the strong security agencies. State is being totally failed to maintain security for its citizens. The provincial government is responsible for the campaign of target killing. Hazara political leaders have been demanding huge changes in the ranks of police officials in Balochistan.

  1. I am very depressed because of this miserable incident happened last week in Quetta. All the victims are innocent and poor Hazara. Hazara are always in troubles if we live in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran or even during migration to Australia or other countries. But especially in Quetta Baluchistan there is much discrimination against us, and still is not clear enough who is root of evil, therefore we all need to be very patient and should not let anyone to take advantage from our being emotional. As now Hazara have good image in the eyes of International countries which should not be loss by our emotional act. We do need to protest but should not break the rules.

  2. He who loses someone so dear knows how unbearable the loss is. Killing of such an important figure not only renders you emotionally devastated, it also creates a kind of vacuum. However, the most saddening and equally frightening aspect of these events is that the nation still remains either in an utter state of denial or carelessness. Insensitivity exhibited by our fellow Hazaras is an ominous sign. I have touched upon this fact in several gatherings that while there are these seemingly unending killings of the innocents, there is an increasing apathy on the part of our community too. Marriage functions are celebrated exquisitely, and with utmost pretension involved. Politics continues. Jirga fails to evolve a consensus. There is no agreement on even a single point to cope with the situation. So all these developments only fill you with a sense of disappointment and cynicism. Does one still expect to see a positive change?

  3. Another Hazara killed today (don’t know the name but he was Director Mines) on Saryab Road.

Another one falls and the entire nation are mere spectators – pathetic!

How many more will we bury in silence? Shame on all of us!

  4. It is sad that once again the darkness has attacked and killed a small sign of light. He was at least an educated person and was certainly helping someone in the capacity of an advocate. Once again people are protesting for one day and go home with a feeling of satisfaction that they have done something. I wounder if it is enough. Any way, the only positive sign in all this sad incident is that the webmaster of this website is still there and unfortunately waiting for someone well known person to be killed so that he would update his site. Actually it reflects how we people are, seems like we enjoy being agrieved and love crying. We have no pleasent developments in our society and consider just the deaths, grief and killings to be important as we usually celebrate Moharram as the most important month in the whole year.
Sorry to say but the Akhund psychology is sitting in all our senses and want to communicate only the sadness and loss. Come with the solutions in stead of crying över the spilt milk.

    Sincerely,
    J.

  5. I feel very sad to see this atrocities against the innocent hazaras in quetta pakistan.

We should try our best to protect our wel known, politecians and intelectuals from the hands of terrorists as much as we possibly can.

It may not be the pushtoon, Baloch or other pakistanis but may well be out siders like U..A….

Our secrifices make us more stronger, united and hard wokers…God give us a better future, peace and unity. Ameen!!

    God safe HAZARAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    D Azad (UK)

    • Dear D.Azad, I partially agree with you on the point that we should all protect each other not only the politicians or intellectualls. But you have mentioned that our sacrifices makes us strong, HOW? SACRIFICES MAKES THE MOVEMENTS STRONGER WHICH HAVE DECIDED THEIR GOAL, NOT JUST SLEEPING UNDER THE KNIFE. IT IS FOOLISH AND IT DOES NOT LEAD TO ANYWHERE. THIS DOES NOT MAKE ANYONE STRONGER RATHER THE OPPOSIT.

      Sincerely,
      J.

  6. Dear brothers,

Its very sad to know that once again such a brutal incident occured in Quetta. Such incidents will occur again and again, because we let them to do so, in todays life, if someone insults you or do not respect you, it means that you let them to do so, if you teach them lessons , then they will think about it and before insults you care of the consequences. the same case happens to us my brothers, we just sit in our houses and blame the Govt. just blaming is nothing going to happen, no body cares about your blaming my dears.

In a soceity where there is desparation, high inflation and poverty, where looters live and where there is no security of once life, where the president is Mr. 10 % for corruption, where everyone is involved with looting the Govt. funds and blunders, in such a soceity if we do not take action and teach them lessons then nothing will happen my dears.

just looking to HDP can not solve your problems, you have to get together, tell the whole world about the atrocities of the balochistan Govt. tell the Human Rights agencies of the world about the brutality of the Balochistan Govt. with its corrupt leaders and shameful agencies.

rock with your slogans, marches, placards, banners, show the world about the atrocies commited to you my brothers.

I strongly encourage the mukhairs of Hazara, to collect money for this cause and spend it for demonstrations against the brutality of the present corrupt Govt. of Balochistan.

These target killers have a broad list of our prominent persons, they have their addresses and they know where our leaders live and where they go, they are funded by differnt extremists there.

we should protest in Islamabad, infront of the Parliment house against the brutalities of the Balochistan Govt. we should protest infront of the Supreme court of Pakistan in Islamabad and tell them about justice to our nation.

all such things need unity and commitment, if we join together by one party and start actions by our slogans then everyone will listen to us my brothers.

I encourage all the Hazaras of the world, you have a great talent, come to the streets and start your protest against the Pakistan Govt. for its atrocities to your nation. blame them as much as you can so that they will get the lessons, there is no solution anymore my brothers.

I hope that now is the time for action, we hazaras , when we join together then no one can separate us my brothers, because we have faced alot of atrocities in our past, our heart and soul is full of such stories, but we never failed, we fought again and again, thats why we have brought up a new generation of talented prominent persons in different parts of the world.

    God bless you all

    H.Bamayni

  7. My brother Anwar Azeem, you are absolutely correct. It is now the time for action and a peaceful action. The Hazara nation has to get up and start the protest. These killings of innocent citizen are not acceptable in any civilized society. The Government is not going to move, unless you make them move. How come the Chief Minister, the Governor and all other high level officials sleep when their citizen are facing day light killings and atrocities. These heartless rulers thing that they are not for the people but people are for them. Our society is going into the darkness of ignorance day by day. Barbarism is spreading; looting and killing have become a daily occurrence. It is to my surprise how long it will continue. I would say Quetta is burning, it is the time to wake up and let us join hands and save Quetta before it is too late.

  10. This is another barbaric act that has occurred in Quetta city. A peace loving, highly educated and respectable citizen of Quetta has been hit by unknown gunmen. I say unknown to many but may be known also to others. This is again another proof that either the state machineries are involved in these appalling actions or things are simply out of their control. The citizens of Quetta should start now to come out and say to the Government and all those behind these innocent killing, that enough is enough. It is time to do something more than just exchange of words. The people of Quetta should now get rid of these so called peoples elected governments, who are completely incapable of running the government and may be behind such action. Therefore they will never be able to do anything about such actions, and it is bound to continue in the days to come.

My sympathies are with the family of Advocate Wulayet and all the other Hazaras. My suggestion to Hazara people is to form a delegation of notables and go straight to Islamabd and meet the Prim Minister and the President of Pakistan and lodge their strong protest on the killing of Hazaras and others in Quetta and ask them to intervene. Let the other sleeping nations of Quetta to keep sleeping.
